Lismore Community Trust - Governance
Lismore Community Trust Ltd. (Communty Benefit Society) Rules
What is the difference between the Community Trust and the Community Council?
The Community Trust is a company listed at Companies House and able to receive and distribute funds according to its Rules and its Objects. It is a private limited company owned by its members who vote for a Board of Directors to run a company on their behalf.
The Community Council is the third tier of statutory government representation in Scotland. A Community Council bridges the gap between the Local Authority (Argyll and Bute) and community (residents of Lismore). Community councils help make local authorities, other public bodies and national government aware of the needs of the communities they represent. A community Council is made up of elected Councillors who are elected by the community.
While there are differences in the responsibilities the Community Council and the Trust we aim to work together for the community.

Born and raised in Devon, currently living in Warwickshire but soon moving to Northumberland to be near my daughter and first grandchild. During this time I have qualified as an accountant and as a credit manager, but most of my career was as Head of Customer Experience for Calor. My Glaswegian husband introduced me to Scotland, and we were lucky enough to buy our Port Ramsay cottage over 20 years ago, from friends with Lismore connections. |

I was born and brought up on Lismore on the family farm before starting my career with a national electrical network company where I worked for 17 years. I left my role there as a Regional Operations Manager to build and develop my own logistics business which expanded to operate across UK and into parts of Europe. More recent roles have included Project Management and most latterly as a Decommissioning Director for a large international oil and gas company. I have recently returned to the island where, with my wife, we run a property letting business. |
